Gruyere / Pays d'Enhaut

Welcome in two splendid regions
Gruyère is a very mountainous region, criss-crossed by deep and narrow valleys sheltering traditional wood-built hamlets. To enter the region, one has to pass thorough the only existing portico, over which the fine town of Bulle stands guard as over the entrance to a castle.
Once inside, one discovers a harmonious mixture of slender summits, verdant high pastures, streams and forests. Hospitality and good food here reign supreme.
The lake of Gruyère a jewel in its natural setting of bright green fields and dark green pine forest with the majestic Moléson as a backdrop.
Each village has its history, either legendary or factual and local inns offer unexpected gourmet specialities. Everywhere, one natural wildlife heritage has been carefully preserved.
The Pays-d'Enhaut can be enjoyed at any season: Nature changes its appearance but remains constantly wonderful, serene, magnificent and beautiful! You can discover green fields, brown chalets, brightly coloured flowers and sparkling snow. You are invited to walk, run, bicycle, slide, jump, climb, swim, gallop or fly...You choose your own rhythm, contemplative or sporting, and you can admire the landscape, animals, flowers, architecture and all around you. Here, the people have time; they love their country, cultivate traditions, preserve their roots and share their joy of life with simplicity. They love to meet, discuss and exchange ideas. Château-d'Oex, Rougemont and Rossinière welcome you to their hotels, chalets, apartments alone, in groups or as a family for one night or...for the rest of your life. There are countless visits, which have been extended: come and you will understand why!
In winter, there are a thousand ways to discover the Gruyère-Pays d'Enhaut region: on snow-shoes, on skis, by snowboard, by sledge and, for a breathtaking view, just take the panoramic "Rapido Sky" cable car in Charmey or the Moléson funicular, or La Braye cable car in Château-d'Oex, or La Videmanette cable car in Rougemont that will carry you up toward its summits.
In summer, is a paradise for hikers and mountain-bikers and is the base camp for many interesting excursions: to a modern demonstration dairy and high-pasture dairy, a chocolate factory, the medieval city of Gruyères, an authentic village of Rougemont and its castles. Do not hesitate give way to temptation come and discover the Gruyère-Pays d'Enhaut region!
