Aigle

Leaning against the foothills of the mountains, sheltered from the wind and enjoying an excellent sunshine, the city of Aigle is the junction with the rail and road leading to the alpine resorts of Chablais and Pays d'Enhaut.

Near Lake Geneva, the Swiss Riviera (Montreux-Vevey), 50 kms from Lausanne and at the gates of amusement parks in Bouveret (Swiss Steam Park - Aquapark), Villeneuve (Fun Planet) and in Evionnaz (Labyrinthe Adventure), the friendly small town aspires to peace and discovery.

Its vineyards, dominated by the proud Aigle Castle , an imposing fortress built in the twelfth century by the Dukes of Savoy and conquered by the Bernese in the late fifteenth century. The castle now houses the Museum of the vine and wine, thus safeguarding the heritage vineyard and cultural traditions of wine.
